Work Experience

Work/Experience

I have worked in various positions throughout my life including dishwashing, land-scape, annual Christmas tree lot, and even a cashier, but there are two main jobs/professional experiences that stand out.

Visser Precision

During my student internship at Visser Precision, I had the invaluable opportunity to delve into a wide array of advanced machining systems and techniques, alongside gaining insight into the overall design process. A significant portion of my internship involved working with HAAS CNC mills of various sizes, used for fabricating parts ranging from plane components to medical equipment. Additionally, I was introduced to fundamental machining processes such as sawing, water-jet cutting, laser engraving, and various surface finishing methods. Moreover, I had the privilege of engaging with more sophisticated machining processes including wire EDM, die sinking EDM, metal additive machining, amorphous metal injection molding, and plastic injection molding. My experience with injection molding encompassed not only understanding the general process but also hands-on involvement with the dies themselves. In addition to machining, I received a brief introduction to the design aspect of the company. Instead of focusing solely on part design, engineers at Visser Precision primarily concentrated on designing the manufacturing processes necessary for producing the required parts efficiently. Overall, my internship at Visser Precision provided me with a comprehensive understanding of advanced machining technologies and processes, while also offering valuable insights into the crucial role of design in manufacturing operations.

Vectis Automation

During my tenure as an Applications and Operations Engineer intern, I had the privilege of immersing myself in nearly all facets of the company's operations. In addition to leading the articulating arm project, I gained valuable hands-on experience by working on a variety of SolidWorks design projects, spanning from existing company systems to customer-specific parts and innovative system features. Alongside these design endeavors, I conducted in-depth analyses of system applications using software such as Fusion 360 and Octopuz. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to broaden my skill set by delving into marketing applications, where I acquired proficiency in various Adobe software programs, including Premiere Pro. This enabled me to contribute to the enhancement of the company's deployment methods through the revision of promotional videos. Beyond computer-based tasks, I played an integral role in the assembly of over 20 complex robotic systems, thereby gaining invaluable insights into common workshop practices. Additionally, this hands-on experience provided me with a comprehensive understanding of welding disciplines at a ground level. Working within this dynamic environment provided me with firsthand exposure to collaborating with peers and customers to resolve intricate design, application, and operational challenges at a professional level. Overall, this internship equipped me with a diverse skill set and the ability to navigate complex engineering projects with confidence and proficiency.
